Who is TXGA?

The Texas Geocaching Association (TXGA) formed in January 2003 by Sam Morrow (UsMorrows), Candy Lind (Moosiegirl), and Will Nienke (9Key). We have hosted several successful statewide events, such as the annual TXGA Texas Challenge and Lonestar Roundup, Geocaching’s first mega event, GeoWoodstock 4 in 2006, and strive to foster the development of geocaching in the Great State of Texas.

Mission Statement

The Texas Geocaching Association (TXGA) is a volunteer organization. We strive to be the foremost advocate for geocaching in Texas and to promote the family-oriented activity of geocaching through a central website, social media, workshops, events and information displays, while encouraging responsible stewardship of public lands.

TXGA is committed to celebrating the diversity of our membership in all regions of Texas and beyond.  From finders to hiders, veteran to novice geocachers, our differences allow us to serve and support each other while building a dynamic geocaching environment in Texas and the greater community.

What is the TXGA Texas Challenge Festival?

The TXGA Texas Challenge Festival is an annual week of events hosted by the Texas Geocaching Association. Each year, the responsibilities of hosting the festival rotate to a regional team to organize the majority of the week. If you have ever wanted an excuse to escape for a week, and get out and geocache a new place with several hundred other geocachers from across the state and world, this is it.

The TXGA Texas Challenge Festival week is centered around an exciting contest pitting geocachers from across the state in a friendly competition to decide which region of the state can accumulate the most points during a 3-hour time crunch. The winning regional team is awarded the coveted Golden Ammo Can.

The entire week is non-stop geocaching goodness with games and goodies. Trackable trading is a major activity, with trail-story swapping and vendor swag purchases. You will rarely have an opportunity in Texas to geocache with as many geocachers at once.
