World Cleanup Day weekend · 2026
One day. Cleanup events in communities across Texas, all at the same time.
Saturday, September 19, 2026 ·Statewide
A little over two years ago georeyna, the Southeast Representative for the Texas Geocaching Association, came up with the idea to organize a coordinated series of CITO® events held in conjunction with World Cleanup Day. Geocachers throughout Texas would host cleanup events in their own communities on the same day. Each event is locally organized, but together they become part of something much bigger.
CITO Across Texas was born.
During 2024 and 2025:
CITO events held across Texas
Volunteers took part
Of trash removed from parks, trails, waterways, neighborhoods, and other public spaces
Every published CITO Across Texas event is collected in a single bookmark list on Geocaching.com. The list grows as new events are published, so check back as September approaches.

In 2026, CITO Across Texas goes global.
Geocachers everywhere are invited to hold cleanup events on the same September day, with a goal of more than 100 coordinated CITO events across the United States, Canada, and countries around the world.
Texas events are part of it — and so is yours, wherever you are.
We are looking for Texas geocachers willing to organize and host a CITO event in their own town, neighborhood, or favorite park.
Pick a public area near you that could use a cleanup — a park, trail, greenbelt, lakeshore, or roadside.
Email CitoAcrossTexas@TexasGeocaching.com to let us know you are in. Include your name, your geocaching name, and the Texas city or county where you plan to hold your event.
Create a CITO event for Saturday, September 19, 2026.
So the Texas events read as one effort, we use a shared naming convention, some consistent text in the description, and a common logo on each event page. We will send you everything you need once you sign up, and your event will be added to the Texas bookmark list.
Promote your event through local geocaching groups, regional Facebook pages, and community or volunteer organizations in your area.
Gather your volunteers, clean up your selected area, have fun, and show your community what geocachers can accomplish when we work together.
After your event, send us a brief summary that includes:
We combine the results from every Texas event to show what the state accomplished together.
You do not need to organize a massive cleanup to make a difference.
An event with five people cleaning a neighborhood park is just as much a part of this effort as an event with a hundred volunteers cleaning a major park.
