CITO Across Texas

Hey cachers – do you want to be part of something as big as the State of Texas that promotes geocaching and gives back to our communities?  Well, mark your calendars and signup for the TXGA CITO Across Texas.

World Cleanup Day is held annually on the Third Saturday in September, volunteers in 180 countries will stand up against the global trash problem and clean up waste, making it the biggest positive civic action the world has seen.  This year, TXGA has decided to throw our cowboy hats and GPS devices in the ring and join the efforts.

On Saturday, September 21st at 10am – geocachers, friends and family will be hosting CITO events across Texas to pick up trash and help keep our geocaching game board clean. This event was the brainchild of Elisa Reynozo (georeyna) TXGA’s Southeast Texas Regional Representative. So, we have decided that the primary event is going to be in Houston (GCAR8NB – TXGA CITO Across Texas – Houston).  This page will have links to all of the other locations where we will be holding CITOs that are part of the TXGA CITO Across Texas initiative.  So far, we have 5 other events created and hope to add more in the coming weeks.

Check out the link below to find the different locations across Texas to find an event near you!

How can you participate in this great community event, you ask?

  • If you want to host an event in your community and you think you can attract 5 or more people send a note to Brian Erickson at bevikingtex@gmail.com  and we will help you setup your own satellite event.  TXGA will help with creating the webpage, some financial support and some SWAG for give aways.  Our target is to have more than 20 simultaneous events!
  • If you just want to participate in one of the events – log a Will Attend at an event near you.  Want to know how to find an event near you?
    • Look on the CITO Event Page GCAR8NB – TXGA CITO Across Texas – Houston.  As we create satellite events we will list and link them on this page.
    • Follow our Facebook Page that we created for this event TXGA CITO Across Texas for additional updates.
    • Send an email to bevikingtex@gmail.com and ask for help in locating an event.
  • What if I don’t live in Texas?  Since this is the initial year – we are going to focus on Texas – our hope is that we are so successful that we will expand next year to make this a Global Event. If you are interested in partnering with us for next year – send an email to BEVikingTex@gmail.com with your contact info and we will be in touch.

Help us make this the biggest CITO event in Geocaching history!

Thanks for your help!
